Distracted Driving Awareness

Adams Law Firm Recognizes Distracted Driving Awareness Month

Every April, Adams Law Firm recognizes Distracted Driving Awareness Month.Distraction.gov, the Official U.S. Government website for Distracted Driving defines the growing problem as follows:

“Distracted driving is any activity that could divert a person’s attention away from the primary task of driving. All distractions endanger driver, passenger, and bystander safety. These types of distractions include:

  • Texting
  • Using a cell phone or smartphone
  • Eating and drinking
  • Talking to passengers
  • Grooming
  • Reading, including maps
  • Using a navigation system
  • Watching a video
  • Adjusting a radio, CD player, or MP3 player

But, because text messaging requires visual, manual, and cognitive attention from the driver, it is by far the most alarming distraction.”

In 2014, distracted driving accounted for 3,179 fatalities and 431,000 injuries in motor vehicle accidents.  Please take a few minutes to visit Distraction.gov to see Facts & Statistics on this growing problem.

Educating people on the potential dangers of driving while distracted is one way we can help in ending this growing problem.  Below you will find the Georgia laws on Distracted Driving and Distraction.gov offers numerous resources.
