Adams Law Firm attorney, MaryBeth Tolle, spent the better part of this beautiful weekend in the courtroom — watching her mock trial team participate in Regional Competitions.
Mock Trial Competition
Tolle is the attorney coach for Howard High School in Macon, Georgia. Her 15 member team is a part of the Georgia High School Mock Trial Program through the State Bar of Georgia. In 2016, there were 111 teams participating in regionals.
“Coaching high school mock trial is very rewarding,” said Tolle. “Seeing these students’ passion for learning the law and putting it into practice is inspiring.”
Already in her 4th season, Tolle helped develop the inaugural team for Howard High School. In her volunteer capacity, she helps the Georgia Mock Trial Competition reach their goals of:
- helping students better understand court procedures and the legal system
- improving students’ basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and reasoning
- promoting communication and cooperation between the education and legal communities
- providing competition in an academic atmosphere
- promoting cooperation among young people of various interests & abilities
The competition is steep in our state, with Georgia taking the National Mock Trial Championship title in 1995, 1999, 2007 and 2008 and 2nd place in 2015. Even still, Howard High School students walked away from the competition Saturday with 6 awards: 1 Outstanding Attorney Award, 3 Outstanding Witness Awards, and 2 Four-Year Participant Awards.
“I am so proud of my team’s hard work and accomplishments! I’m already looking forward to our next successful year,” added Tolle.
Adams Law Firm is proud of MaryBeth and her service to the students at Howard High School. Giving back to our community is at the core of our business, and helping to groom the next generation of attorneys is important work.
Congratulations to Attorney Coach Tolle and the Howard Huskies!
