Insurance & Your Damages

One of the main issues that comes up in every personal injury case is insurance coverage.  Is there insurance to cover your damages? The question becomes where are we going to find insurance.  There are several places that you can look.  It is important that you have the right lawyer to find the available coverage that applies to your claim.

The first place we typically look in a car wreck or tractor trailer accident case would be the at-fault driver.  Do they have liability coverage?  The state of Georgia only requires drivers to carry a $25,000 policy.  That often times is not enough coverage to cover your claim, so there may be other coverages.  Maybe the owner of the vehicle is someone different that has insurance coverage.  There is also underinsured or uninsured motorist coverage that you can carry on your own auto policy that will kick in if there’s not enough coverage on the liability policy, meaning the person who is at-fault.

We recommend that you have plenty of underinsured or uninsured motorist coverage on your own policy so that will go into effect if you’ve been injured at no-fault of your own.  Those are some of the things we look to on any damages case — where is the insurance coming from?  And at Adams Law Firm, we make sure we find all of the coverage that is available to your claim so that you can be adequately compensated.
